We couldn’t believe it either: event wear made from recycled bottles? At a comparable quality and cost to non-recycled garments?
We’re thrilled to be able to supply them, and charities are delighted to be ordering them!
Our recycled running vests, recycled cycle jerseys, and recycled technical running t-shirts are now being bought as frequently as our standard version, which is great news for everyone!
Lets learn more about how we manufacture these garments sustainability:
- On average, it takes 5 plastic bottles to make one garment. These bottles are collected from landfills and other sources, before being sorted, washed and processed into bottle flakes. These are then melted and extruded into a fiber, which is then spun into yarn and woven to make our incredible recycled event wear!
- The finished products have the same moisture-wicking properties as technical sports clothing made from virgin polyester, making them ideal for high-intensity athletic activities.
- The production of recycled polyester reduces carbon emissions by 11% and requires fewer energy inputs compared to the production of virgin polyester.
- The state-of-the-art factory that produces these clothing items for us uses 80% renewable energy sources.
- The fabric is certified by the Global Recycling Standard as being 100% recycled and by the OEKO TEX Standard 100 as being ethically produced without harmful chemicals.
We’re delighted to play a part in reducing landfills, lowering dependence on fossil fuels, and increasing bio-diversity – and we invite you to join us by choosing recycled event wear.
