Today kicks off Mental Health Awareness Week, which shines a spotlight on creating healthy workplaces where everyone feels valued and supported. This week presents a great opportunity to think about how we can all address the causes of work-related stress.
To learn more about stress and how we’re coping with it, we reached out to Mind, the mental health charity dedicated to supporting and empowering those with mental health problems. Vicky Urquhart, Senior Community Fundraising Officer, was kind enough to share some advice on getting involved with Mental Health Awareness Week and how the team taps into merchandising to help maximise their fundraising efforts.
Mind is a mental health charity for England and Wales. We provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. We campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.
I’m a Senior Community Fundraising Officer, so I manage half of the community fundraising portfolio. The best thing about my role is hearing the amazing things that our fundraisers do for Mind, their creativity and courage is endless and inspiring.
Mental Health Awareness Week is a great time to do something amazing by raising funds or awareness for better mental health. Supporters can sign up to hold an event in their community here.
There’s so many ways people choose to support Mind. In my team, we look after people doing challenges like treks and skydives, as well as events in their community like bake sales, or even fundraising at their wedding through our range of wedding favours.
It’s really important to our supporters to have branded merchandise to show their support and raise awareness of their fundraising.
Our wedding favours are really popular, especially just now as we are almost in the summer wedding season. I think people really love to have a way to share the causes that mean a lot to them on their wedding days.
We listen to what our supporters are telling us and think about what might help them to raise more or feel more inspired and excited for their fundraising. Like water bottles to remind our eventers what they’re training for!
